As someone who once ran a small/medium-sized YouTube channel, you’re absolutely right. It becomes more about vanity metrics than helping the customer, which COMPLETELY defeats the purpose.

This is a great post and idea. Hopefully more content creators wake up and smell this coffee. Learning this from experience is long, difficult, and will seriously try your mental health. It’s especially dangerous because it WILL inflate your ego.

When those vanity metrics start going down (they will, give it enough time) your self-esteem will withdraw into itself. That’s going to hurt.

It was the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life. Don’t make that mistake.
