I can appreciate your point of view, but I disagree. Here’s why:

There will always be a mass of talentless people in any creative field. Writing, music, video, etc. And you’re right in pointing out that now, these talentless people can create something that mimics true work. However, and this is a big however, it enhances the output of those who are masters of their craft.

Joe blow has no particular interest in writing. ChatGPT comes out and he decides he’ll become a blogger now. More garbage in.

There are quite a few people I’ve seen who work as professionals at the top of their fields - design, video editing, research, writing, software engineers - that have similarly gobbled up AI tools all the same. Is this to say none of these people had talent? Were frauds all along?

A recent study by GitHub found that over 90% of professional software engineers now use AI as a core part of their job. And in the future, programming without AI will be on par with writers who don’t use the internet.

Sure, AI can enable some fairly mediocre people to create something they otherwise couldn’t. But, when used responsibly, AI can be another tool for master craftsmen to draw from.
