I work in web3, and have a natural optimism for the emerging tech in the industry. But NFTs just don’t seem to be innovating anything.

I can think of a few exceptions, but they are exceptions that prove the rule. Off the top of my head, ENS domains are technically NFTs, which are pretty cool. There are a handful of DAOs that use NFTs for membership, like DeveloperDAO.

But outside of those… there isn’t much to be excited for.

The ultimate possibility of NFTs is giving users the ability to speculate on digital assets. And I just don’t see that ever working out well for anyone.
